pages. Book in near fine condition in original illustrated blue
cloth covers. Dust jacket is in very good plus to near fine
condition; price-clipped. Original owner's short inscription on
second fly-leaf.
William
Maxwell was the fiction editor for The New Yorker from 1936 to 1975.
Maxwell also wrote short stories, novels, essays and children's
books. Born in Lincoln, Illinois, Maxwell was known during his life
for his great devotion to his contributing authors. However, it was
not until after his death that his reputation grew as a writer.
