Frost was also the first person to see the Cresson Vug outside of Richard Roelefs and the miners who uncovered it. THE BLACK DIAMOND GOLD MINING COMPANY
Issued April 25, 1893, cancelled Signed by J.R. McKinnie as president. McKinnie was a friend and business associated of gold baron, W.S. Stratton. McKinnie, himself, became wealthy from his investments in Cripple Creek Gold District properties. Frank G. Peck as secretary. Peck began his mining investment career in Leadville, and after moving to Colorado Springs and investing the Cripple Creek District, he, too, became one of Cripple Creek's gold barons. After the Black Diamond Mining Company, on Battle Mountain, was absorbed by The Portland Gold Mining Company, both McKinnie and Peck became significant shareholders; and, later, peck became president of The Portland Gold Mining Company, one of the greatest gold producers in the entire Cripple Creek District. John T. Hawkins was a noted Colorado Springs promoter of Cripple Creek gold mines. Very good plus condition with original stub still attached.

This Company was instrumental in founding the City of Victor, and putting together one of the most productive syndicates of Cripple Creek gold mining properties before the second Cripple Creek labor strike. Issued to N. Maxcy Tabor and signed by Tabor on the back. N. Maxcy was the son of Leadville silver baron, H.A.W. Tabor. Long after his father went broke, N. Maxcy Tabor continued investing in Colorado mines and businesses. Very good condition: some light staining on left margin; usual folds
