THE STANDARD MILLING AND SMELTING COMPANY, 1900

Certificate #34, issued July 30, 1900, uncancelled.  Signed by Charles L. Tutt and Spencer Penrose.  Very good condition, usual folds.  This certificate was issued on milling property in Colorado City, Colorado.  Cripple Creek gold ores were milled here.  This mill was where the second Cripple Creek Strike began.  Charles M. MacNeill was the general manager at the time of the mill and smelter men's labor strike.  SOLD

Certificate #3, issued April 19, 1902, uncancelled, signed by Charles L. Tutt as president, and issued to Spencer Penrose, signed by Spencer Penrose on back of certificate.  Near fine condition; usual two folds.

This certificate represents a Company incorporated to use a specific milling process patent.  This process was used in the gold ore mills of Colorado City owned by Charles Tutt and Spencer Penrose.

Tutt as president.  Mines Located in the Cripple Creek District, Colorado.  This Company, owned by Charles L. Tutt, Spencer Penrose, Charles M. MacNeill, Clarence C. Hamlin, and J.H. House, had possession of the Gold Coin Mine, in the center of Victor, Colorado.  The property was once owned by The Woods Investment Company.

Schedin – John Lehman, Cripple Creek, Colorado.  Original photograph dimensions: 23-3/4 inches by 20 inches (slightly larger than mammoth-sized).  Excellent tones and detail.  Mounted on original cream-colored mat.  Smelting and refining and plant owned by the syndicate of Charles Tutt and Spencer Penrose.  Photograph condition: very good; several light abrasions, especially in sky area; also, ˝ inch paper loss on left-hand side, above buildings and in gray tones of hillside.
