Original binding as published by the U.S. Government in 1877: boards covered in brown paper; leather spine and corners; tipped on leather title in gold print. Original marbled endpapers.

Dimensions of tome: 20 inches across by 27 inches in height; complete with all 20 sheets and endpapers. Overall condition: very good; some scuffing to original boards; light rippling to bottom portion of several of the front pages, however, there is no damage to hinges or pages.

Hayden's Atlas of Colorado was one of the penultimate publication of the extraordinary Surveys conducted by the United States Geological and Geographical Survey from 1868 to 1879. The 1877 was the first edition of this landmark publication. In 1881,a second edition of Hayden's Atlas of Colorado, with notable modifications, was published. Both tomes are scarce research sources.
